What Are Porcelain Veneers?
A dental veneer is an ultra-thin, custom-made porcelain shell bonded to the front surface of your tooth. It allows precise control over the colour, shape, and size of the visible tooth surface, creating a result that looks completely natural while addressing multiple cosmetic concerns at once.
Veneers can correct:
- Chipped, cracked, and broken teeth
- Deep staining that whitening cannot address
- Minor misalignment and uneven spacing
- Asymmetric or worn-down teeth
- Gaps between teeth
Porcelain veneers are crafted by specialist dental technicians to have the same translucency and texture as natural enamel, making them virtually indistinguishable from your own teeth.
Placing Your Veneers
We begin with a consultation that covers your dental health, your aesthetic concerns, and what you actually want your smile to look like at the end of treatment. We take photographs and scans, and every aspect of the veneer design, shade, shape, and proportion, is discussed and agreed before any preparation begins.
For porcelain veneers, if needed, a small reduction in the enamel layer at the front of the tooth creates the correct space for the veneer. However, this initial stage of enamel preparation sometimes isn’t required. Your impressions go to our dental laboratory where your custom restorations are crafted to the exact specifications agreed at consultation. Temporaries are placed in the interim so your smile is never left exposed. At your second appointment, the finished veneers are bonded and fine-tuned.
For patients who prefer to avoid the two-appointment process, composite veneers achieve a full-surface result in a single chairside session.
