Dental implants are small titanium screws that use your jawbone to support new teeth. If you’ve lost bone density through resorption, we can’t place implants because they’ll lack stability.
Zygomatic implants are much longer than standard implants. This type of implant is designed to access the dense zygomatic (cheek) bone for maximum support. We’ll place these implants at an angle to reach more of the bone.
We’ll use a combination of conventional and zygomatic implants to provide optimal support across the length of your smile. Once anchored into position, your implants support bespoke and natural-looking replacement teeth.
We can use zygomatic implants if you:
Have lost multiple teeth in your upper arch
Have multiple failing teeth in your upper arch
Have lost bone mass in your upper jaw
Have previously had dentures but would like increased stability
The Zygomatic Implant Process
Before any procedure, we’ll invite you for a consultation with Dr Vishal Patel and the SmileHQ implant team. We’ll assess your smile and discuss your treatment options during this appointment. After answering your questions, we’ll start planning your surgery if you want to proceed with zygomatic implants.
On the day of your procedure, we’ll place four to six implants, including two longer rods stretching to your cheek—all administered under gentle sedation so you won’t feel a thing.
Next, we’ll place temporary replacement teeth. Although these are just a stop-gap, you’ll be surprised at their quality.
After your final teeth are ready, we’ll invite you back to the clinic to place them.
